Do aluminum MacBooks come with 3rd party memory?

i found out that my macbook aluminum from best buy has cheap a$$ crap ram chips not made by apple or even have the logo. im thinking they took my apple ram chips and replaced it with these sh!tty ones (korea eco brand.. pretty much the no name of ram chips)

did i get ripped off? are the ram supposed to be third party?

  1. PC manufatures always use lower quality ram. Unless it is a gaming machine, pc makers rarely use quality ram like corsair. Look in pretty much any HP or other name brand computer and you will see ram from no-name companies like Hyinx, Ramaxel, etc. That's just the way it is. You can always replace it with better, faster ram, but unless you are gaming there is no point. Just get good quality ram and you will be fine. The more the better too. Be careful of warranties too. Sometimes companies say the warranty is void if you switch out a factory part so if you do a ram upgrade and your computer dies, put the original ram back in before you take it in for service.

And yeah, PC manufactures don't make ram. All they really do is put a computer together for you, make it look pretty, and put their own custom software on it.

  2. Apple does not manufacture RAM. Neither do the PC makers. They all buy RAM. Whatever computer you buy is going to come with third party RAM. If it has the computer company's logo on it, then you are paying extra to get the logo.

  3. ummmmmmmm! RAM is RAM, apple doesn't make RAM, its all aftermarket supplier. I have a macbook and I have kinggston memory and it wokrz fine

  4. The macbooks do come with 3rd party RAMs. So Best Buy didn't rip you off. What you CAN do though, is to upgrade your RAM with quality RAMs like the Crucials:

    killer-dealz . com/crucial

I upgraded my macbook to 4GB and it's NICE!!
