Will the new MacBook Pros take 8GB RAM?

Because the new MacBook Pro 17" supports up to 8GB RAM dWilo you think future Apple products (iMac) will support up to 8GB?

I know that right now you can manage 6GB in an iMac, but it isn't "official," because Apple's stance is 4GB.

  1. it def wont be terribytes (tb of ram)

apple will be careful not to put to much RAM into the iMac as not to make it a competator with its mac pro (high end mac)

im sure it will suppport 8 gb with in the next 2 years tho. if not in 2009

  2. You would have to wait till Apple releases the iMac to see if it could support it. Snow Leopard, the new operating system is supposed to have a feature that allows them to support up to 64TB of RAM, but I don’t know if that will just be in theory or if it will allow all Intel Based Macs to support more RAM.

  3. Actually, I personally believe no matter how much RAM MacBooks and such can support, there will always be more affordable, reliable and best-bang-for-the-buck products, so if Apple’s "Macs" can support 8GB I’m pretty sure that you can find a product which supports upto 16GB RAM.

lol it’ll take at least 5-10 more years for a product to support 64TB of RAM, there isn’t even an HDD that large, and even if there will be products with 64"TB" of RAM they will most definitely be supercomputers and mainframes.

    Good Luck ;-)
