Is MacBook AppleCare worth the money?

I recently purchased a Apple MacBook Pro 17" online. It costs me 99 plus shipping. If thr unit should have an issue over the next few years I want to be fully covered so I will be purchasing the Consumer Priority Service extended warranty as well. The online dealer offers a 2 year or a 3 year for more, Is it worth the extra money for the 3 year warranty?

  1. $100 for a 3 year warranty. Not outrageous. Can you afford it? If so do it. Look, you are spending $2300 plus shipping for this computer. I can think of 5 cars I have owned in my lifetime that do not equal that. My point being this is a big investment. Makes sense to back yourself up on this. Think of the peace of mind $100 will bring. Hope this helps. Good Luck with your new computer.

  2. Well… the longer the warranty, the better.

The truth is, you never know when something could happen
So, it COULD be worth it; It could be a waste of money.

    Look at it this way…
If something happens within the time frame of your warranty, you’re likely to be covered. However, if something happens and you’re not covered, what could have been an extra $100 for the warranty is now an extra $200 for the repair.

There is no right answer to this question.
    It’s up to you.

It’s sort of like having car insurance (sort of… but not really)…
You can pay less, and be covered less… or you can pay more to be covered more.
Yes this makes the bill higher, but you’re less likely to pay in the long run if something catastrophic happens…
