I've just recently purchased the new 17 inch macbook pro from apple, and I am wondering if the 9600 GT series graphic card with 512MB useful for any type of video game in that computer.

If that Graphics Card is Compatible with your computer, then yes it is quite useful. That 512MB’s is built on RAM for your graphics, that doesn’t get pulled from your systems RAM. It should over all make your graphics better, and your game faster.
Yes. I use the desktop version and it’s great. Mind you that mobile versions of the cards are weaker, it should be pretty good for laptop gaming.
