MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air – what’s the difference?

I am looking to buy a mac and I wanted to know what the difference is between the new Macbook, the Macbook Pro, and the Macbook Air. And if there is not really a difference then which one is better. I am a student so I wont be using it for other things like gaming. Just social networking and school work, surfing the net, and downloading music, and burning movies.

  1. The main difference in the 3 computers are the processor and the casing.

Macbook is not made of aluminum but more like a hard plastic. It has a slightly slower processor and you can only upgrade to 4GB of RAM.

Macbook Pro is made of precision unibody aluminum enclosure. The processor is one of the fastest you can get in a laptop. The screen bezel is also black to make the screen color pop and make watching movies more enhanced. It includes a SD card slot, Firewire 400 & 800. The RAM is upgradable to 8GB.

Macbook Air is very light and thin. Good Processor and great keyboard and screen that’s similar to the Macbook Pro. However, no firewire and no DVD drive is a major drawback for someone who wants to burn movies or create movies by importing DV video.

For a college student, I highly recommend the Macbook Pro 13" or 15".

  2. the air is supper low power super portable super slow. The mac book is the midrange and the pro just is faster and more powerful. I would recommend gogin with a much cheaper windows pc, but that is just my 2 cents.

  3. Macbook Air is the super slim Apple laptop. It has a slower processor compared to the Macbook Pro, which has the fastest processor currently in Apple latops. The Macbook is for everyday use and people that don’t need such a fast processor. I recommend the Macbook Pro if you are going to be doing more than 4 things at a time just to extend the laptops lifetime. I a student and have a Macbook Pro and it works great for me!

  4. The macbook 13" has less memory, the body is plastic a little flimsy. The macbook pro has an aluminum unibody very nice I just bought the macbook pro. basically the macbook pro is a little better than the macbook. I am very satisfied with the macbook pro and highly recommend it. so your best bet is to go to apple.com do a side by side comparison, and then go to cnet.com and do it again.

what ever you do dont get it from best buy, they suck. Go to a apple store you get it for the same price and you get training and questions answered. Good luck.

  5. Read the review of macbooks on this site ‘http://macbookfree.wordpress.com/‘ and you have a chance to win a macbook air too.
