Insert the Mac OSX disk that came with your laptop. Boot from it, by holding down the "C" key while booting (holding the "Option" key should also work).
Once you into the Install section, go up to the upper menu, and select the Disk Utilty. Use that to re-format your drive, and then re-install the OS fresh and clean and without any of your fingerprints in the system.
Good Luck, David
Yes, you can use the original restore CD's that came with your Mac. They will give you an option to completely reformat the HD and reinstall OS X and the bundled applications, bringing it back to its factory state.
Insert your original MacOs X DVD, use the disk utility to erase the hard drive. Then reinstall MacOs X.
Many laptops come with a recovery disk in case you need to re-install your operating system. Use this as it should wipe all your files and settings.
Use something like http://mac.rbytes.net/cat/mac/security/super-scrubber/ to scrub the drive. Then even a computer savvy person can't access anything you've had on it in the past. That's the securest way to go about it.
After that, just stick in the restore discs and restore the system. But don't actually set it up. Just restore it and then turn it off. So when the purchaser buys it, they will have to do all of the startup things (like naming it, picking language preferences, etc.) and get the startup movie thing.
